Curious About Our… Roots?

Hey! My name is Andy Bennett, the owner, salesman and arborist for Roots & Ropes Tree Service. Born and raised in Washington. My wife, our puppy dog Luna, and our soon to be born baby boy are beginning to build and share a life together, here in Bellingham, WA.

Roots & Ropes started in September of 2023. I wanted to build by own tree company with the intent of cultivating a deeper connection between clients, their trees and the people making pruning cuts on a clients tree and property. Climbing trees and learning about their biology is a passion that I love to share with others. I have developed a special “eye” while observing trees. While working with you and your tree I hope to share my perspective of individual trees, their role in urban environments, forests, and how intelligent, self-sufficient, and dependent on neighboring trees, these barky organisms are that silently work their magic while we go about our days!!!

I have been in the tree industry for over 10 years. Working as a groundman dragging brush and chipping. Operating equipment to move large wood and brush piles. Learning the ins and outs of how to safely climb a tree to perform pruning or removal tasks in both healthy and very hazardous trees. All the while asking many questions and a lot of the time my curiosity ended with being told to “stop asking questions!” My parents taught me to question everything, not to judge, but out of self interest and desire to learn more. To this day the trees I get the privilege to work in, continue to educate and show me just how resilient and uniquely characteristic each tree species is as an individual and a group.
